There’s nothing new under the sun…
You’ll notice in my previous postings that it is my opinion that the ‘paleo lifestyle’ is not only about the types of food our ancestors ate. My theory is that to best benefit from ‘paleo’ we have to simulate, as best we can, the scenarios that dictated their day to day activities, which affected what they ate, which affected their activities, which affected…
OK, on to the topic of this post. I would like to state clearly that I didn’t invent anything that I write about here. Evolution did. Also, I have been influenced by many people. The person whose writings, theories and lifestyle had the greatest impact is Dr. Art De Vany who has lived as a modern hunter gatherer for decades and because of it is in perfect mental and physical shape at age 70. I would advise reading his blog from to top to bottom. Here’s a link to his interview on t-nation.com, which is filled with real nuggets that you can live by, and live better. The one thing you’ll notice that Art and I would immediately agree on, is that paleolithic realities have to be taken into account when ‘going paleo’. Its not just about food types and ratios. Its about chaos.
That all said, not everything I write will be in line with Art’s perspective on modern hunter-gatherer living. But that’s OK. Take what’s useful and dump the rest. But make it an educated decision – do some of your own research – you’ll be surprised how knowledgeable the average person can become.
So, this blog is just my take on a modern paleo lifestyle. I believe that using workable Paleolithic scenarios to dictate activities and diet, I can come up with a ‘formalized’ system of ‘organized chaos’ that provides a guideline for what and how to eat on any given day to reach ones natural genetically programmed bodyweight and composition. Such a system will remove the guesswork, combat boredom and ensure balanced nutrition (due to variety). I am currently working on that system, which of course will not be perfect, but still very useful for the aforementioned reasons.
I hope that people can learn a thing or two here that improves their health. As I said before, I am cleaning up my own act, and this blog helps to keep me on track. Also, I personally hope to learn a lot here.
PS. In 15 days time I will post some (embarrassing) before + (hopefully less embarrassing) progress photos, and what I specifically did to get to that point (21 days). That should keep me focused
Best of health to all, and don’t forget to visit Arthur De Vany’s blog…
